What do you mean by “digital space and sustainability”?
As a kid, I had weird fixations. I spent years searching for the perfect solution to organize my notes across all my different classes. I found binders an awkward shape, but their mechanism for adding paper was on the right track. I experimented with portfolio folders, multi-section notebooks, and gluing folders together. I never quite found a solution I was happy with (luckily Google suite is now a thing), but I knew I was passionate about two things: design and organization.
10 years later and I’m still the same kid. After studying computer music, working on audio-visual art pieces and installations, then furthering my studies in human-computer interaction, I have become enamored by the concept of digital space. Digital space as a means to expand and enhance the physical world we live in.
In the world we live in, we are constantly inundated with the new. Buy these new clothes! Listen to these new songs! But after you take your fill, you must inevitably face the consumption. I want to focus on the presentation of these things—the things you love that speak to your soul. These things, too, deserve our attention, especially in design.
In my creative pursuits, I have been dreaming up whimsical solutions to problems similar to the flavor of problem kid-Sam was trying to solve: how do I navigate my paralyzing multitude of digitally saved songs? how do I see all the clothes I have as they really are and not squished into my 3 drawers and 1 foot of hanging space? After all, the virtual closet Cher had in Clueless was the reason I studied computer science in the first place!
